Abstract

Hemorrhoidal symptoms account for more than 1 million office visits annually in the United States. They are the most common reason patients seek evaluation by a colon and rectal surgeon. Although the majority of hemorrhoids can be managed nonoperatively, several operative interventions are available for nonresponsive symptomatic disease.
