Abstract
This chapter provides a personal account of key developments in the study of TRP channels. The main focus is on discoveries and developments that have impacted on our understanding of sensory neuron transduction and signaling. It covers some of the background history and information that facilitated the cloning and characterization of some sensory TRP channels and some of the advances that have led to our current understanding.
