Abstract

Reuse of tritium and deuterium for fueling of TNR requires their removal from plasma exhaust. This is the first task to be performed by the plasma purification system. Second task is detritiation of gaseous impurities prior to their discharge to the environment. For the first task various methods of selective or semiselective separation, or methods of selective adsorption or selective chemical absorption of impurities from hydrogen can be used. For the second task, tritium in the form of residual molecular hydrogen or chemically bonded can be removed, either by its conversion to water followed by water removal from the gas stream or by methods based on hydrogen isotopic exchange. Additional option for chemically bonded tritium is conversion to molecular hydrogen followed by its removal from gas mixture. Separation factor for the first ask is by many orders of magnitude lower than for the second task.
