Abstract

Binary decision diagrams (BDD) are detailed in this chapter. BDD are obtained from logical decision tree (LDT). The theoretical basis of this conversion is widely explained with several examples. The result of this conversion is influenced by the variable ranking. The principal ranking methods are introduced, and a comparison between them is shown. This chapter also presents how to perform a quantitative analysis using the expression of the occurrence probability of the top event. Finally, this section lists the advantages of employing BDD instead of solving directly the LDT.
