Abstract
Disorders of defecation and the pelvic floor affect around 10–15% of the population and are a problem commonly encountered by both gastroenterologists and GI surgeons alike. They require a comprehensive approach both with initial clinical examination and subsequent investigation, utilizing a range of both functional tests and imaging modalities, both of which are constantly evolving.
