Abstract

Sarcopenia is an age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass, muscle power, and muscle function. It is associated with disabilities, frailty syndrome, and longevity in elderly people. Exercise and nutrition are important to prevent sarcopenia. Future research focuses on developing targeted pharmacotherapy (eg, selective androgen receptor modulators).
