Abstract
In this chapter, the role of epigenetic modifications in relation to the development of endometrial cancer (EC) is discussed. It started with an introduction on EC and its clinicopathologic types, then the most important molecular signaling pathways involved in EC is explained. Computational DNA methylome analysis of EC and epigenetic alternations underlie in carcinogenesis development of EC including mismatch repair (MMR), steroid receptor genes, and also silencing of tumor suppressor genes and TS-miRNAs by DNA hypermethylation have been explained completely. Furthermore, different expressions of DNA methyltransferases during menstrual cycle by steroid hormones are described. Finally, application of DNA hypermethylation for EC treatment and administration of anticancer drugs as a methylation inhibitor is discussed, in which understanding of these issues may provide new insights in the biology of this entity, hopefully it can lead to innovative therapies.
