Abstract

The evolution of research in carbon-based nanomaterials has been in contest with its technological innovations. The various dimensional carbon nanofillers afford ample scope for its widespread commercial application. The tuneable characteristics of carbon nanofillers, owing to its different dimensions, tends to be a potential candidate as a reinforcement filler in polymer nanocomposites. The excellent comprehensive properties of carbon nanofillers proves to be an ideal reinforcement in polymer to enhance their inclusive aspects. Zero-dimensional (0D) carbon-based nanomaterials possess distinctive characteristics and their meticulous interaction with polymer desires a lot to be studied. The 0D carbon nanodots retain exquisite fluorescence properties during its interaction with polymer. The chapter focus on application of 0D carbon nanofillers in the fabrication of polymer nanocomposites. This chapter will also discuss the procedure to develop carbon nanofillers reinforced polymer nanocomposites, reporting the works done in the last few years. The chapter, in a nutshell, will provide an insight on the role of 0D carbon nanomaterials in the development of polymer nanocomposites and its future prospects toward application in commercial world markets.
