Abstract

The global deterioration caused by the release of toxic chemicals from ongoing anthropogenic activities is becoming a serious issue all over the world. This raises a slew of issues concerning ecosystem and human health, heightening the application challenges of conventional treatment technologies. Nanotechnology has a great deal of potential to offer creative solutions to a variety of environmental problems. These include more efficient ways to reduce pollution, water treatment, environmental sensing, remediation, and increasing the affordability of alternative energy sources. These cutting-edge technologies for addressing environmental challenges sustainably are made possible by the distinctive properties of engineered nanomaterials. This chapter emphasizes future possibilities for using engineered nanomaterials in natural environmental systems as well as the environmental applications of nanotechnology in a sustainable manner.
