Abstract
Metal objects have to be protected from deterioration by a slow chemical process called corrosion. This can be achieved by different methods; one such method is coating protection. These coatings can be organic or inorganic materials. Superhydrophobic coatings have the benefits of protection as well as being interactive with different environmental effects like pressure, heat, and chemical substances. Superior anticorrosive hydrophobic coatings have water-repelling properties on the coated surfaces and have gained increasing research interest as a promising solution to corrosion of metals due to the ability of such coatings to prevent the formation of corrosion cells at the surface that cause damage. This chapter presents the different methods for fabrication of superhydrophobic anticorrosive coatings and discusses their corrosion-protection mechanism.
