Abstract
The various types of fire suppression systems and equipment are described, both portable and permanent systems, along with their applications. The types and capabilities of portable fire extinguishers are explained. Water suppressions systems are addressed and include calculating water demand, source of water supplies, pumping systems, distributions systems, control and isolation valves, sprinkler systems, deluge systems, water spray systems, water flooding, steam smothering, water curtains, water injection systems, hydrants, hose reels and monitors, nozzles, foam systems (area coverage, foam water systems, tank overhead application, subsurface injection, heli-deck DIFF systems, high expansion), manual firefighting, carbon dioxide systems, halon Systems, clean agent systems, chemical systems (wet and dry), and dual agent systems. Tables for application and further design reference sources are also given.
