Abstract

This chapter discusses the liquid–solid separation equipment and processes most often used in gold processing. Included are preleach thickening, countercurrent decantation, trash screening, carbon screening, concentrate filtration, and tailings thickening and filtration. The chapter is intended as an overview, not a detailed discussion of sizing or operational challenges. However, the references cited are good resources for that information.
