Abstract
Cosmetics are used to enhance the beauty of skin and hair and it is an age-old practice. Herbal cosmetics are formulated using natural ingredients with no adverse effects and compatible with all skin types. People prefer to use herbal cosmetics over synthetic one as these products are free from any kind of synthetic chemical agents that cause harmful effects on skin. Cosmeceuticals are cosmetic-pharmaceutical hybrid products that can improve the health and texture of skin. They are able to control acne, pimple, and wrinkle as well as give protection to our skin from sun. Cosmeceuticals not only improve our skin health but are also useful in various skin ailments. These products can repair our skin damage, control excess oil secretion, boosting collagen, eradicating the effects of free radicals, and also restore the moisture of skin. There are numerous herbs available naturally having different uses in cosmetics preparations for skin and hair care. This review highlights the use of natural ingredients in herbal cosmeceuticals for the enhancement of beauty of skin and hair. It also gives an overview on the commercially available various herbal cosmeticeuticals for beauty and skin therapy.
