Abstract

The cerebellum coordinates skilled voluntary movements, posture, gait, muscular tone, and other movements. It may also be involved in modulating emotional states and cognition. Organization of the cerebellum is extremely complex, along with its afferent and efferent connections. The cerebellum's primary role is to assist in the control of conscious movements generated within the cerebral hemispheres.
