Abstract
In this chapter, we discuss in detail the synthesis, applications, and safety issues of silver nanoparticles. Recently, the bio/green synthesis process has achieved significant interest due to its nontoxic, eco-benign, and simple nature. The involvement of mushroom extract in silver nanoparticles production has gained crucial attention because of the presence of energetic phytomolecules, including alkaloids, phenolic acids, terpenoids, flavonoids, and tannins, and biomolecules such as proteins, vitamins, and amino acids. From the medical and pharmaceutical point of view, silver nanoparticles are a potential candidate for the development of health care products. The sensing and degradation properties of silver nanoparticles make them a sustainable ecosystem for all living things. Furthermore, the microbial resistant property of silver nanoparticles is highly beneficial in medicine, agriculture, and food industries. In future, there is no doubt that silver nanoparticles will feature in many emerging areas and raise mankind’s standard of living by introducing innovative technologies.
