Abstract

Learning resiliency is part of a normal growth process that starts with a recognition of adversity and its consequences. Both individual traits and environmental factors (families, communities) impact resilience. Resilience screening in adolescence can identify youths who might benefit from strengthening individual characteristics or environmental factors, but it is still too early to unequivocally endorse the efficacy of resilience enhancement programs, either resilience promotion or resilience intervention. Despite this thin evidence, it is felt that resilience promotion and intervention should be undertaken in a multimodal fashion.
