Abstract

Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) is a Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) caused by single-celled protozoan parasites: Trypanosoma brucei (Tb) gambiense (West African form) and Tb rhodesiense (East African form) (World Heart Organization, 2020; Buscher et al., 2020). It is also known as “sleeping sickness” due to its neurological symptoms.
