Abstract
Human trichinellosis (also called trichinosis) is a zoonotic disease which is acquired by consumption of undercooked or raw meat, most commonly from pigs (Gottstein et al., 2009). This infection is caused by the parasitic nematode (roundworm) of the genus Trichinella (T.). The first known description of trichinellosis was in 1835 by Sir James Paget while he was a first-year medical student at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London. Paget noted roundworms on human flesh during a cadaveric dissection (Zarlenga et al., 2020).
