Abstract

Rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases and its timely treatment are critical determinants that can reduce the disease outbreaks, a lesson much learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic. Advances in biosensor technologies have eased the point-of-care diagnostics and surpassed the conventional standards in regard to accuracy, time, and cost. Modern biosensors based on micro- and nanofabrication technologies with diverse sensing strategies were introduced with great excitement for having potential of producing devices having lab-on-a-chip, but unexpectedly only few of them have been able to make a place in the market.
