Abstract

This chapter aims at drawing some initiatives in water management that can be implemented in the food industry within the framework of sustainable food production. This chapter explains the pillars of the new circular economy and Industry 4.0 industrial management paradigms that should also be integrated into water management strategies. Some examples of viable practices that could be implemented in companies under these new paradigms will be presented. The main result shows that paradigm shifts require a change of focus in what companies, growers, and practitioners do regularly. Adapting our production to the circular economy, using the technological tools available in Industry 4.0 and with the goal of being more sustainable, is a change for which future generations will be grateful.
