Abstract

Psychiatric disorders involving abnormal neurodevelopment may significantly impact the function and eventually lead to chronic disability. However, the etiology, onset, and pathological development of these disorders remain unclear; recent findings show that complex interactions between genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors are often associated with the structural, chemical, and functional changes observed. Thus understanding the underlying mechanisms of psychiatric disorders may be crucial to identifying potential therapeutic targets and treatment options.
