Abstract

Nanomaterial catalysts are considered an important industrial catalyst due to their attractive surface and structural properties for efficient activity in a wide range of applications, from chemical transformations to energy storage and conversion processes. A surface modification of nanomaterials focus on a new trend, such as nanoparticles with its original individuality and effective modern functionalization for the improvement of novel industrial yields. Surface-modified nanomaterials (SMNs) have gained attention compared to bare nanomaterials without any modifications. SMNs are usually inadequate in terms of surface chemical and biological compatibility, wettability, surface diffusion properties, morphological changes, and so forth. Various treatments for surface modification have been extensively employed prior to the desired applications in catalysis and other related research areas. This book chapter highlights the status of surface modification of nanoparticles, their established industrial applications, evolving applications in the chemical transformations, and future research prospects.
