Abstract

This chapter discusses a case study of the technology transfer and change processes developed in Poland after the political transformation in 1989. It reviews the several pitfalls that may be fallen in by both the technology providers and recipients. The pitfalls are illustrated by the actual events occurring during the ICT technology transfer in power systems in Poland. The problems of ICT implementation in automation are both economically and socially important. Understanding the problems can help numerous ICT recipients to defend themselves against the inappropriate methods employed by the big corporations delivering ICT systems. Young people usually look at big corporations and their management through the perspective of their technical and financial success, and think they are wise. To be considered wise, they must understand and accept the basic human notions of ethics, morality and culture, and not try to make any harm to other people, especially the weaker ones.
