Abstract

Implementing and upscaling Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) requires planed actions. National and Federal governments as well as state and local authorities are beginning to move towards zero energy building targets. In this final chapter, we present two unique roadmaps for NZEB implementation. The roadmaps present strategical guidance for policy makers in industrial as well as nonindustrial countries. Both road maps depict a high-tech and a low-tech approach to bring NZEB to local markets. The aim of these roadmaps is to guide government officials and authorities on the strategical level to set up short-, medium-, and long-term targets to plan the NZEB market uptake. Also in this chapter, we present operational guidance for NZEB projects implementation for property owners, project managers, and building professionals. We identify the important role building information modeling can play to design, construct, and operate NZEB. Finally, we discuss the means to get to NZEB status and the best practices to increase the market uptake while lowering the barriers. By presenting roadmaps, action plans, and tools we aim to support and guide a broad group of market stakeholders.
