Abstract

Nanotechnology is one of the most important scientific breakthroughs in this era of science and technology. It may change the whole lifestyle. For nanotechnology, nanomaterials of specific size, shape, and functionalities are required. Methods involved in the synthesis depend on top-down and bottom-up approaches. These methods suffer from environmental problems and therefore green synthesis approaches are getting much attention. The combination of green chemistry methods with nanotechnology is becoming a key component of nanotechnology future. Green synthesis is required to minimize unwanted and harmful by-products. Plant extracts, microorganisms, microwave heating, ultrasound method, etc., are being exploited as green synthetic methods for nanomaterials. In this chapter, green synthesis methods with special reference to microbial method for preparing nanomaterials are discussed.
