Abstract
Abstract This chapter presents recent advances in thermal analysis (TA) of biobased polymers, composites, and nanocomposites. First, the main thermoanalytical techniques useful for the characterization of materials from renewable resources are exposed. Then, several applications are presented and discussed; this includes glass transition, nucleation and self-nucleation, crystallization, melting, physical aging, gelation, denaturation of biopolymers, polymerization, curing, vitrification, thermal stability, and mechanical properties. The scope is relatively broad and varies from relatively simple investigations to more advanced case studies.
