Abstract

The best technology for making reservoir performance predictions today is to model fluid flow in porous media using reservoir flow simulators. Performance predictions are needed for effective reservoir management. In this chapter, we define reservoir management, present prerequisites to a reservoir simulation study, discuss simulator selection in the context of reservoir management, and outline major elements of a reservoir simulation study. Two useful tools for conducting reservoir simulation studies, the tornado plot and the radar plot, are then described.
