Abstract

Divergent theoretical positions on the emergence, functions, and regulation of emotion expressions in infancy are delineated in this chapter. The emotion of anger is used to illustrate the implications of three theoretical perspectives on the onset and significance of a discrete emotion in the life experience of the infant.
