Abstract
In the following chapter, electrochemical applications of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are discussed in potential reactions like oxygen evolution reaction (OER), oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The porous nature of MOFs have been utilized in several synthesis of composites that may improve MOFs activity in electrochemical reaction. Various MOFs-based materials that includes pristine MOFs, MOF-based composites, MOF/carbon material composites, metal oxides/MOF composites, MOF-derived carbon-based materials, MOF-derived metal nanoparticles/carbon composites, MOF/polymer composites, MOF/polyoxometalate composites, MOF-derived metal oxide composites, nanoparticles/MOFs, and nanoparticle loaded MOF-derived carbon activity have been discussed for various electrochemical reactions. The development of ORR, OER, and HER electrocatalysts is a hot and important topic in the fields of chemistry, materials, energy, and environment. The research on MOF-composites has brought about a large number of efficient electrocatalysts, and is promising to further promote the research progress of electrocatalysis.
