Abstract

This chapter on weed management defines and examines the relative merits of preventing, controlling, and eradicating weeds. It reviews weed seed laws and US Federal noxious weed laws. In addition, the chapter considers advantages and disadvantages of nonchemical weed control techniques as well as the role of minimum and no-tillage in weed management. The current and future weed management roles of living mulches and companion cropping are explored.
