Abstract

This chapter presents the fundamentals of weed classification based on phylogenetics or ancestral relationships. The chapter attempts to explain why and how other weed classification systems are used and their importance in weed management. It presents an understanding of the unique habitat and role of parasitic weeds and introduces the major groups of parasitic weeds.
