Abstract
One of the main concerns for any grid is power quality and efficiency and reactive and active power reliability for the consumer. To manage active and reactive power flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) technologies are used to improve power quality and efficiency. Since FACTS technologies were developed, much research has been done to acquire more accurate and reliable techniques and algorithms to implement FACTS in power systems. Current microgrid schemes implemented with FACTS, an output response monitored with different key performance indicators of the microgrid, developed AC/DC microgrid designs with FACTS technology, including distributed energy resources consisting of DC batteries, wind turbines, solar photovoltaic systems, and diesel generators. Modulated power filter compensators for AC and green plug filter compensators for DC are used as FACTS controllers.
