Abstract
SARS-CoV-2 originated from the city of Wuhan, China and spread throughout the whole world in what was later declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused the deaths of many people around the world and has been a serious threat to public health. Currently, efforts are being made to produce more vaccines or specific line of treatment for this deadly infectious disease. Also, research studies and clinical trials are ongoing for the development of antiviral drugs. This chapter presents a brief overview of SARS-CoV-2 and treatment options.
