Abstract
Metal nanoclusters have progressed tremendously in the exploration of precise structures and structure-property correlations at the atomic level. Besides, based upon the new knowledge acquired, atomically precise metal nanoclusters will find new opportunities in a wide range of applications. This chapter contributes to the introduction of metal nanoclusters. First, a historical review is provided to demonstrate the reasons for studying metal nanocluster. Then, the research status of metal nanoclusters is presented in terms of both achieved processes and unsolved problems. Finally, we will provide a brief overview of each chapter in this book. We hope the readers get a general understanding from this introduction chapter.
