Abstract

Cosmetic facial surgery involves a lot more than surgery. Surgery is usually the midpoint of the patient experience and in some cases can be the easiest part. Patient behavior, especially the cosmetic surgery patient, can be extremely complex and unpredictable. Many patients who present for cosmetic surgery have body dysmorphic tendencies and many have actual body dysmorphic disorder (BDD).
