Abstract

In recent years, with the advancement of technology, the growth of the market, and the emergence of new fibres, the clothing industry has changed from traditional to industrialization, and clothes are no longer used only for covering but are also used to improve the quality of life. New technologies have created a new trend in the production of textiles and the lifestyle of consumers and other industries such as medicine and the military. In some cases, using these fibres and materials is so affordable that the experts and owners of enterprises do not want to use any other textile. Wearable sensors can provide valuable information about a person’s health, identifying safety issues and revealing environmental threats. In this chapter, the principles of intelligent textiles, including materials and production technologies, are reviewed. Then, comfort, protection, and recent developments in intelligent clothing technology with broad applications are described.
