System features which effect change include authority control capagilities such as automatic validation of new headings, the new headings list, and the global change feature. The ease of making changes in the online catalog, the availability of default values during record creation, automatic error-identification features, and the capability of enerating reports to identify errors, have also contributed to a cfange in quality control procedures. Flexible indexing options and search capabilities promise long-range changes in system use and in quality and authority control decision making.
