Abstract

The work named Cevâhir-i Mültekata by the poet, clerk and scholar Mehmed Lebîb Efendi, one of the 19th century Ottoman statesmen, is one of the important works belonging to the story genre of Classical Turkish Literature. Compiled and brought together from Arabic, Persian and Turkish works, the work presents a rich universe of wisdom with scholars, Sufis, poets, statesmen and personalities who have left behind unique stories. In the first part of this article, information about the life, literary personality, works and story genre of Mehmed Lebîb Efendi, one of the 19th century Ottoman statesmen, scribe, scholar and poet is presented. In the second part, information about the method, universe and sample of the research is given, and in the part of data collection and analysis, information about the relevant literature research and transcription properties is presented. In the third chapter, the original Ottoman texts, transcriptions and Turkish meanings of eleven selected stories on ethics and advice are given along with the language and narrative features of the work named Cevâhir-i Mültekata in the findings and interpretations section. In this context, information was given about the language and narrative features of the stories. In the conclusion and suggestions section, information about the literary and scientific values ​​and importance of the selected stories determined to draw the importance of the work named Cevâhir-i Mültekata is presented.
