Abstract

The preparation of pseudoencapsulated films of cholesteric liquid crystals in a polyurethane polymer matrix is described. The intensity of selective reflexion and the colour-temperature characteristics have been investigated as a function of the thickness of the films, the concentration of the cholesteric liquid crystal and the size of the capsules formed. The special aspects of the properties of such polyurethane films are compared with similar films based on hydrophilic polymers (PVA).
