Abstract
Cement-NiTiO3 nanocomposite with 10 wt% NiTiO3 nanopowder was successfully produced through sol-gel process. The effect of adding nanopowder to white cement was investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to characterize morphology of materials. Results of thermal analysis were acquired by a dilatometer. The results showed that reduction of the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) was observed. Especially at higher temperatures, for instance, at 580°C up to 37% reduction of CTE was observed. Also, the cement particles were tinier and the hydrated composition of the aciform particles changed into spherical particles.
