Abstract
Cellular cannibalism is defined as the ability of a large cell to engulf another smaller cell leading to death of the internalized cell. Cellular cannibalism has been described in malignant tumors and correlated with aggressiveness. We report a 14-year-old male patient who presented with a mandibular swelling, measuring 7 cm x 4 cm, of 6 months’ duration. Computed tomography showed multilocular and hypodense lesion involving the left mandibular body and angle. After biopsy, the diagnosis of central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) was made. After surgical treatment, the microscopic examination confirmed the previous diagnosis and revealed several multinucleated giant cells, hyperchromasia, and cellular cannibalism. Currently, the patient has not presented with a recurrence after 4 months of follow-up.
