Abstract

The major challenges that any system of career counselling has to meet are - changing the emphasis in providing services from supporting scholar decision to developing one's ability to manage their own careers, and finding inexpensive ways to broaden access for beneficiaries to counselling services. The aim of the present research was to identify the impact of career counselling in the pre-university environment in Brasov and the analysis of needs of educational actors (students, parents, head teachers, school counsellors) on the field. We used the questionnaire survey, the focus group and the study of planning documents and reporting of school counsellors within the network of school psycho-pedagogical assistance offices in Brasov. The research has revealed that the impact of the counselling and career guidance activities carried out in the schools of Brasov county is limited, the career decisions taken by final year students are little influenced by the school counsellor evaluations, while psychopedagogical support services are less visible and poorly publicized.
