Abstract

The cardiovascular system in the body is vital for the circulation of fresh oxygenated blood and nutrients to the different organs in the body. At the same time the cardiovascular system also carries away consumed blood and other waste products from the various organs. This circulation allows for the efficient functioning of the entire body. This part details the operation of the cardiovascular system with the heart being the central organ of the system. As the effective running of the body depends, to a large extent, on the health of the cardiovascular system, accurate monitoring of the cardiovascular system is important. The different methods used for checking the systems are dealt with in this part of the text. Diseases of the cardiovascular system are a major source of health issues throughout the world. These diseases can have their origin within the heart or within the arteries and veins network that make up the cardiovascular system. The various diseases of the heart valves, chambers of the heart and the electrical system of the heart are the diseases that can arise from within the heart. Blockages in the flow of blood, in the coronary and peripheral arteries and aneurysms in the arteries are major sources of diseases outside of the heart. The diseases of the cardiovascular system are listed out in this part.
