Abstract
ABSTRACT The Indo-Pacific is gaining traction as a geopolitical and geoeconomic space, and countries, including Canada and India, are reorienting their foreign policy toward the region. Canada and India harbor similar interests in the Indo-Pacific region, buttressed by shared values and characteristics. It is argued in the article that they are unable to capitalize on such shared interests to engender cooperation due to differences in their approaches to the region, which are mainly determined by various domestic and systemic realities. It is contended that it remains unclear if Canada and India would come to cooperate closely on matters of the region despite overlaps in their visions for a peaceful and stable Indo-Pacific. Based on the Indo-Pacific visions outlined by both countries, the article examines their regional interests and assesses their cooperation prospects.
