Abstract
This work is devoted to the issue of human immunodeficiency virus spreading in Russia. The authors analyze the incidence dynamic for the last 24 years, represent other country’s experience, describe problems of its treatment and prevention. As a practical part a survey among students of NWSMU named after I.I. Mechnikov about their awareness of HIV infection was conducted. According to the results the authors recommend the introduction of sex education lessons for adolescents in schools and universities
