Abstract
The articulation between assistance and justice as a way of protecting childhood and adolescence was the Brazilian way to expand rights in the field. The answers constructed with a view to serving this segment took on different contours in the face of the justice system, social assistance and philanthropy in the care of children and adolescents with different practices of protection due to the social frameworks of class, race and gender. The article that follows presents some elements of this debate in contemporary times, considering the advent of the Child and Adolescent Statute, its advances and challenges still to be faced, especially after mass vaccination against Covid-19.
