Abstract
The article deals with the issues related to the finds of the Byzantine coins (separately or in treasures) and other artefacts on the lands of Volyn and Polissia that have their origins in Pripontida. It makes possible to find out the level of contacts of western part of Old Rus with the Byzantine world. The map of found Byzantine coins is presented in the article. The study indicated trade-routes of that time. Researches show that these trade and economic relations were not intensive.
