Abstract

This article consideres image of the bulldog Bobby presented in the drawings, painting and woodcut by Anna Ostroumova-Lebedeva for the first time. She has been drawing a dog from life in various techniques – pencil, watercolor, ink, charcoal for many years. It has been established that traditions of the 17th-century Dutch art, 19th-century Russian art as well as French Impressionists art simultaneously influenced the painting “Interior with a dog”. It was also found that Italian colored woodcut chiaroscuro influenced the engraving “Bobby” along with the traditions of dog portraits in Russian animal art.
