Abstract
Purpose To study from literary sources data on microbial pathologies of the oral cavity of patients suffering from bronchial asthma, as well as the mechanisms of their development. Material and methods An analysis of information sources was carried out in the international databases Google Scholar and Pubmed from 2004 to 2024. The keywords of the query were “oral cavity, bronchial asthma, microbes”. Results The search resulted in 267 sources, of which 22 were relevant. Based on the obtained literature data, dental diseases and the mechanisms of their development associated with changes in the microecosystem of the oral cavity are described in patients suffering from bronchial asthma, including: caries, gingivitis/periodontitis, candidiasis. The above pathologies can develop as a result of an autoimmune process and other factors that change the homeostasis of the oral cavity, activating the action of pathogenic microbiota of the oral cavity. Conclusion Changes in the microbiota of the oral cavity, which occurs during changes in the microecosystem of the oral cavity, influence the development of dental pathology, thereby affecting the health of not only the oral cavity and general somatic health.
