Abstract

A wideband single-fed circularly-polarised patch antenna is presented. It is implemented by using a 3D meandering strip to feed a square patch antenna. This antenna has very good circular-polarisation characteristics with wide axial ratio bandwidth, stable radiation patterns and high antenna gain across the operating bandwidth. Results show that the proposed antenna has an impedance bandwidth (SWR2) of 25.2% (2.18–2.81 GHz), an axial ratio bandwidth (AR3 dB) of 22.4% (2.18–2.73 GHz) and a peak gain of 8.2 dBic.
